Anyone can sell chicken. Almost nobody can grill it like this.

Real charcoal. 36 hours of marinade. 100% Halal.

Ketkoot is Iraqi chargrilled chicken. One flagship in Mississauga’s busiest halal food plaza, and a small number of founding franchise territories now open across Ontario.
Now reviewing applications for the GTA, Hamilton, Ottawa, London and Windsor

A category with a line-up and no leader.

Halal fast-casual in Canada is loud, crowded, and almost entirely undifferentiated. Charcoal is the wall competitors cannot climb. You cannot fake it with a gas broiler, and you cannot shortcut a 36-hour marinade.

The product defends itself

Every shawarma shop on the strip sells the same thing. Ketkoot does not compete on price or portion size. It competes on a flavour that requires a specific process, specific equipment, and specific recipes. That is a moat, not a menu.

The customer is already there

Canada’s Muslim population is one of the fastest-growing consumer segments in the country, and it is chronically under-served by branded, consistent, sit-down-quality halal food. Families are driving across the GTA to eat. They should not have to.

A tight menu runs lean

Chicken, sliders, wraps, wings, rice. One protein, one cooking method, two house sauces. Fewer SKUs means less waste, a shorter training curve, faster tickets, and a kitchen a first-time operator can actually run.

You would be early

Founding partners choose territory before the map fills in. That advantage exists exactly once in a brand’s life, and it is not available at the fiftieth location.

Recipes from a house in Iraq, not a test kitchen.

Ketkoot’s recipes came out of Iraqi home cooking. It is the food Karar H. grew up around, brought to Mississauga and put over real charcoal. The Ketkoot sauce builds heat instead of dumping it. The garlic sauce is thick enough to hold on a fork. The chicken gets pulled by hand while it is still warm, so it comes off in strands instead of dry shreds.

That is the part we do not hand over lightly. As a franchise partner you get the recipes, the suppliers, the marinade spec, and the grill programme, and you get held to them.

Pick the footprint your market can carry.

Not every site wants a dining room. We build to what the location can actually support.

Ketkoot Full Grill

The full room

Full dine-in with the charcoal grill visible from the floor. Carries family feasts, catering, and large group orders, which are the strongest part of the menu. Built for destination sites where people come specifically to eat.

Best for

Destination retail

You bring the market. We bring everything else.

Franchising works when the franchisor handles the hard, boring, repeatable parts so the operator can run the floor.

01

Site selection and lease

We help you read the trade area, screen sites for halal density and traffic, and sit in on lease negotiation. A bad lease kills more restaurants than bad food.

02

Build-out and equipment

Approved floor plans, charcoal grill specification, kitchen layout, and a vetted contractor and equipment list so you are not sourcing blind or overpaying.

03

Recipe and culinary training

Hands-on training at the Mississauga flagship. The 36-hour marinade programme, charcoal management, hand-pulling, and both house sauces. Taught, not emailed.

04

Supply chain

Access to our zabiha halal poultry supplier and negotiated pricing on core inputs. Consistency across locations is non-negotiable and it starts upstream.

05

Opening support

A team on the ground for your first weeks: hiring, training your crew, soft launch, and fixing the throughput problems every new kitchen has in month one.

06

Marketing and launch

Brand assets, a launch campaign built for your neighbourhood, social and creator strategy, and the national brand fund working behind your local spend.

07

Technology

POS, online ordering, delivery platform setup, and inventory tracking configured to the Ketkoot menu, so your food cost is visible from day one.

08

Ongoing operations

Scheduled visits, quality audits, P&L review, and a direct line when something breaks at 9pm on a Saturday. Support that continues after the ribbon is cut.

09

Halal integrity

Sourcing standards, documentation, and preparation protocols that hold across every location. The trust the brand runs on is protected at the system level.

We turn down more people than we sign.

A franchise is a licence to represent someone else’s name in public. We would rather grow slowly with the right partners than quickly with the wrong ones.

You will be in the building

Owner-operators, not absentee investors. For your first location we expect you on the floor, running shifts, knowing your regulars by name.

You have run something before

Restaurant, retail, or another business where you managed staff, payroll, and inventory. Food service experience is a strong advantage, not a requirement.

You are funded before you start

Enough capital to build, open, and survive the first slow months without cutting corners on food or staffing. Undercapitalized openings fail, and we screen for it.

You can follow a system

The marinade time, the charcoal, the sauces, the halal standards. If you plan to improvise on the food, this is the wrong brand for you.

You know your market

Real local knowledge. Where the Muslim community eats, which plazas fill on a Friday night, which landlords are reasonable. Nobody can research that for you.

You are in it for the long run

Founding partners help shape how this brand grows. We are looking for people who want a second and third location, not a quick flip.

From first form to first order.

Most of the timeline is site search, which depends on your market and how quickly the right unit comes up.

1

Application

You submit the form below. We review market, capital position, and background, usually within five business days.

2

Introductory call

A direct conversation about your target territory, which format fits it, and what you are trying to build. Both sides ask hard questions.

3

Disclosure and review

We deliver the franchise disclosure document. You take it to your own lawyer and accountant. The statutory review period applies before anything is signed.

4

Come eat

A day at the Mississauga flagship. Stand at the grill, watch a Friday rush, meet the team. You should not sign anything before you have done this.

5

Agreement and territory

Franchise agreement executed, fee paid, territory locked. Site search begins with our team alongside you.

6

Build, train, open

Lease, build-out, equipment install, full training programme, hiring, soft launch, then opening with our team on the ground with you.

Where we are looking first.

Priority markets for founding partners. If your city is not listed and you can make the case for it, tell us in the form.

The things people ask before they call.

Do I need restaurant experience?

It helps, and it is weighted heavily, but it is not a hard requirement. What is required is that you have managed a business with staff, inventory, and a payroll. If you have never run anything and never worked in food, this will be very hard, and we will tell you that honestly rather than take your fee.
Very little, at first. Founding partners are owner-operators. We expect you in the store for your first location. Once it is running to standard, multi-unit partners move into an oversight role, but not before.
No. The marinade time, the charcoal, the sauces, and the halal standards are fixed across every location. That consistency is the entire point of the brand. Approved regional additions are possible over time and go through our culinary team, never the other way around.
We do not lend, but we will help you assemble the package lenders want to see and introduce you to franchise lending specialists and brokers experienced with the Canada Small Business Financing Program. The capital has to be yours to raise.
Each franchise agreement defines a protected radius or defined trade area. The specifics are set out in the disclosure document and vary by market density. A downtown territory looks nothing like a suburban one.
Zabiha hand-slaughtered poultry from approved suppliers, no pork, no alcohol, no exceptions anywhere on the premises. Sourcing is audited. This is the one standard where a single failure damages every location in the system, so it carries the least flexibility of anything in the agreement.
Yes. Multi-unit and area development arrangements are available for qualified partners, almost always after your first location is open and performing, not before.
We are focused on Canada. Master franchise conversations for international markets are considered case by case for groups with the capital and local infrastructure to support them.

Tell us where you want to open.

Every application is read by our team, not a filter. If it is a fit, you will hear from us within five business days. If it is not, we will tell you that too, and why.
