KetKoot: Erin Mills' Home for Iraqi Chargrilled Chicken at Ridgeway Plaza

Chicken that’s marinated for a day and a half, seasoned with a warm, garlicky spice blend, then grilled until the edges char and the inside stays juicy. That’s KetKoot. If you know the neighbourhood, you already know the plaza. What you might not know yet is what’s coming out of our kitchen.

Iraqi Chargrilled Chicken

What Makes Iraqi Chargrilled Chicken Different

Marinated fresh, chargrilled to order

Every piece of chicken that comes off our grill has already spent 36 hours soaking up a marinade built on garlic, citrus, and a warm spice blend. That’s where the flavour actually comes from. The grill just finishes the job, charring the edges and locking in the juice, so what you’re tasting is the marinade, not a sauce poured on afterward.

The Iraqi way vs. Portuguese, Peruvian, and shawarma-style chicken

Iraqi-style grilling keeps things simple: whole cuts, legs, and quarters, laid flat and cooked directly over open flame. That’s different from Lebanese and Turkish preparations, which usually cube the chicken and thread it onto skewers. It’s different again from Portuguese piri-piri, which spatchcocks the whole bird, or Peruvian pollo a la brasa, which turns slowly on a rotisserie instead of sitting over direct heat.

Shawarma is its own thing entirely, thin slices built up on a vertical spit over hours. Ours is more direct than all of those: whole cuts, open flame, and a marinade doing the heavy lifting.

The spice rub, the smoke, and why the skin matters

The spice base leans into baharat-style warmth: allspice, cumin, coriander, a little cinnamon and cardamom, rounded out with fresh garlic and a finish of lemon. That’s what gives the chicken its colour and its smell before it even hits the plate. The skin is where all of it concentrates, crisped and a little charred, so don’t skip it.

What to Order at KetKoot Erin Mills

Chargrilled chicken plates and whole chicken

Start with a Single Chicken Leg Box if you want a taste of what we do, or go bigger with the Double Chicken Leg or the ½ Chicken Box, all served with seasoned fries, rice, and both our house sauces. Feeding a table, get the Whole Chicken with pita, pickles, and small fries on the side.

Chicken sliders and wraps

The Musahab Wrap is our pulled chicken wrap, hand-pulled straight off the grill and tossed hot or mild before it’s wrapped up. If you want the full meal, the Musahab Meal adds seasoned fries, both sauces, and a drink. For sliders, the Double or Triple Slider comes on toasted garlic buns with pickles and a side of fries.

Pulled chicken rice bowls

Same pulled chicken, different base. Pulled Chicken Rice, Pulled Chicken Fries, or the Pulled Chicken Salad, all topped with Ketkoot sauce.

Pickle chips and the house spicy sauce

Ask around and two things come up constantly: the pickles and the spicy Ketkoot sauce. Both come standard with most orders, and both are worth asking for extra of.

Our Family Feast, Slider Feast Box, and Family Jumbo Wing Box are built for exactly this: a table full of people, plenty to share, and food that’s ready to pass around. Whether it’s a weeknight family dinner or an iftar table, we can put together enough for the group.

How KetKoot compares to other grilled chicken spots in Erin Mills

There’s no shortage of grilled chicken around Mississauga, but Iraqi-style chargrilling is its own category: whole cuts, open flame, a marinade that does the flavour work before the chicken ever hits the grill. That’s what sets our plates apart from the rotisserie and skewer styles you’ll find elsewhere.

Halal options in the plaza

Ridgeway Plaza has become known as a spot with plenty of halal choices under one roof, and KetKoot is proud to be one of them, with our own take on Iraqi chargrilled chicken you won’t find duplicated nearby.
