Halal Chargrilled Chicken in Mississauga: Whole and Half Chicken Plates

The steam hits you first. Garlic, citrus, warm spice, and that toasty edge only a hot grill gives. Then you see it: skin crackly and charred in spots, meat underneath that pulls away juicy with barely a tug. That’s every half and whole chicken that leaves our kitchen, and it starts a day and a half before it reaches your table.

Iraqi-Style Chargrilled Chicken, Explained

What "Iraqi Chargrilled" Means at KetKoot

Iraqi-style grilling keeps the chicken in big pieces. Halves, legs, and whole birds go flat over direct, high heat instead of getting cubed onto skewers or turned slowly on a rotisserie. The marinade carries the flavour, and the grill finishes the job with char and colour.

That’s the approach behind everything on our grill. It’s also why a KetKoot chicken tastes seasoned well past the skin, right into the thickest part of the thigh.

The 36-Hour Marinade

Every piece of chicken sits in our marinade for 36 hours before it touches the grill. Garlic, citrus, and a warm, baharat-style spice blend get time to sink in properly, so the flavour runs through the meat instead of resting on top. It’s a long wait, and you can taste every hour of it.

What Comes on a Half or Whole Chicken Plate

The ½ Chicken Box and the Whole Chicken come with slightly different sides, so here’s what lands with each.

Seasoned Rice

The ½ Chicken Box comes with rice and seasoned fries. The rice is there to catch everything: the juices running off the chicken, the drips of sauce, the stray bits of char. Ordering the Whole Chicken and want rice too? Add a side for $3.49.

Pita and Pickles

The Whole Chicken comes with 4 pita breads, pickles, and small fries. Tear off some pita, pull a piece of chicken off the bone, add a pickle and a swipe of garlic sauce, and you’ve built the best bite at the table.

KetKoot Sauce and Garlic Sauce

No need to choose. The ½ Chicken Box comes with both, and the Whole Chicken comes with two of each. KetKoot sauce is our house-made spicy sauce, the one people always ask for extra of. The garlic sauce brings a sharp garlic punch that cuts right through the char.

Half or Whole: Which Should You Order?

A Solo Meal

A ½ Chicken Box is a big, satisfying plate for one hungry person. If that’s more than you’re after, the Single Chicken Leg Box ($13.99) gets you a chargrilled leg and thigh with rice, fries, and both sauces. Prefer white meat? Upgrade to breast and wing for $1.99.

Sharing Between Two

Two lighter eaters can split a ½ Chicken Box, especially with an extra side of seasoned fries ($3.99) or a KetKoot Salad ($4.99). Two big appetites should go for the Whole Chicken and split it down the middle, with pita for wrapping.

Taking a Whole Chicken Home

The Whole Chicken ($37.99) is made for the dinner table at home. It travels with pita, both sauces, pickles, and fries, so all you need to bring out are plates.

Feeding more people than that? The Family Feast ($49.99) puts a whole chargrilled chicken together with 2 sliders, 3 jumbo wings, large rice, large seasoned fries, 2 KetKoot sauces, 2 garlic sauces, 2 pita breads, and pickles.

Why the Char Matters

Char is where the grill leaves its mark. When marinated skin meets high heat, the garlic and spice caramelize into a dark, crisp crust with a slightly bittersweet edge, and that edge makes the juicy meat underneath taste even richer. Crisp outside, tender inside: that contrast is the reason we chargrill to order instead of cooking ahead and holding chicken in a warmer.

Grab a piece with a little extra char on the skin and you’ll know what we mean.

100% Halal, Zabiha Chicken

Every chicken on our grill is 100% halal and hand-slaughtered according to the zabiha method. KetKoot is Muslim-owned, and the entire kitchen is halal, so nothing on your plate shares a grill, fryer oil, prep surface, or utensils with anything non-halal. The menu is completely alcohol-free.

Halal here is a matter of faith, ethics, and cleanliness, and it shapes how this kitchen runs every single day. Muslim families can order a whole chicken for the table without a second thought, and everyone else in Mississauga is welcome to pull up a chair.

Chicken Plate Frequently Asked Questions

How is the chicken grilled?

Chargrilled to order over direct, high heat. After 36 hours in the marinade, big cuts go flat on the grill and come off with charred edges, a caramelized outside, and juicy meat inside. Nothing is cooked ahead and reheated.

Mostly in the marinade and the method. Peruvian pollo a la brasa turns slowly on a rotisserie, usually seasoned with cumin, garlic, and aji panca. Portuguese piri-piri chicken is spatchcocked and grilled with a chili-forward piri-piri marinade. Ours leans on garlic, citrus, and warm baharat-style spice, marinates for 36 hours, and goes flat over direct heat in big cuts.

Yes. Vaughan serves the same KetKoot favourites: chargrilled chicken boxes, sliders, Musahab wraps, pulled chicken bowls, jumbo wings, family feasts, and KetKoot Cake, all made with the same 36-hour marinated, hand-slaughtered chicken. Check the menu for current items and prices before you order.
